Oscar Javier Ornelas is a tax attorney from the El Paso-Las Cruces Borderplex with over two decades’ worth of experience in practicing tax law on the United States-Mexican border. He is fluent in Spanish and well-versed in the cultural nuances of Mexican and Latin American tax law. Given his accounting background, Ornelas fully understands the economic and financial concerns of his clients, in addition to the laws that govern their issues. He advises individuals, expatriates, foreign investors, nonprofits, and small businesses on tax and corporate matters and resolves their tax issues arising from audit or collection activity at the state and federal levels.

Ornelas graduated from the Texas Tech University School of Law (JD) and earned his graduate degree (LLM) in tax law from the Graduate Tax Program at the New York University School of Law. Capitalizing on his experience in private practice and as in-house counsel, Ornelas formed The Ornelas Firm in 2013. The firm’s mission is to provide clients with personalized, professional, and value-added legal representation on tax and corporate issues.
